Infrared Thermography uses a special video, or still camera to make thermal images, or ‘thermograms’ that show heat variations.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
With electrical systems, hot spots assosiated with loose, worn, or corroded contacts or connections can be detected, along with overloaded, or uneven power distribution.
BUILDING HEAT LOSS
(Roofs, wet or lack of insulation), or air leakage can also be detected with the use of thermography.
MECHANICAL SYSTEMS
Problems with mechanical systems can be detected by heat created by excessive friction. Hot spots on the outer areas of kilns can help in determining breakdown in the lining, or refractory.
